The robin outside our door is relentless. Morning after morning a new nest arrives. And day after day David removes it. I think David finally got sick of having to do that (and was beginning to feel a little heartless) so he turned to his trusty friend, the Google. He learned that placing something flashy like a pie tin or a cd near the "nesting ground" would scare the bird away, causing it to nest elsewhere.

So, he rigged up this flashy system. Beautiful, no?

Update (5/20): It may not be beautiful but it worked like a charm. No more nests outside our door. Just some unsightly mud leftover that we still need to spay down. Oh, and we're probably safe to take down the flashy decor too. That's coming down this weekend!

How sad for the robin! I'd love to have a bird build a nest on my porch, but that's just me. :)

we wanted it to build in the tree right next to our porch, we didn't want the associated mess (e.g. excrement) of the nest right on our porch
